Double bassist Alexandra Scott was born in England and has been Professor of Double Bass at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich since 2020. From 2012 to 2020, she taught double bass at the University of Music in Karlsruhe. 

Alongside her academic career, she regularly shares her expertise as a mentor at prestigious institutions such as the European Union Youth Orchestra, the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, and the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, guiding young musicians at the start of their careers. She has also been invited to give masterclasses at the Royal Academy of Music in London, as well as at the universities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Alexandra has served as a jury member in several international competitions.

She began her musical education at the Yehudi Menuhin School with Caroline Emery, and for several years studied with Chi-chi Nwanoku. She went on to study with Duncan McTier, Graham Mitchell, and Rinat Ibragimov. As a scholarship holder at the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, she worked with Klaus Stoll, Janne Saksala, and Esko Laine. 

She later served as Principal Double Bass of the NDR Radiophilharmonie in Hanover and Section Leader of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.

In addition to her intense pedagogical and orchestral activity, Alexandra is passionately dedicated to chamber music. She is a founding member of the Baroque ensemble "l’Accademia giocosa" and has a deep interest in early music and historically informed performance practice.
