Matthias Samuil was born in Berlin and began his musical studies at the age of six. He graduated as a pianist from the “Hanns Eisler” Academy of Music in Berlin, where he studied with Annerose Schmidt and Hella Walter-Arndt, and participated in several international masterclasses with Murray Perahia, Leon Fleisher, Brigitte Engerer and Graham Johnson.
Matthias has appeared in concert as collaborative pianist with some of today’s most distinguished opera singers, including Olga Peretyatko, Dmitry Korchak, Anna Samuil, Lena Belkina, Alfredo Daza and Marina Prudenskaya.
As both soloist and collaborative pianist, he has received numerous awards at international competitions. In 2016, he was awarded the prize for Best Collaborative Pianist at the “Triomphe de l’Art” Competition in Brussels.
He has performed in some of the world’s leading concert venues, including the Berlin Philharmonie, the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, the Moscow International House of Music, the Berlin State Opera, the Konzerthaus Berlin, and the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam.
He has also taken part in numerous live broadcasts and CD recordings.
Since 2006, he has been a Professor at the “Hanns Eisler” Academy of Music in Berlin.
